New camp stove!

I just bought a new camp cook stove. The stove I had before was great for large groups but I wanted one for my camp trailer and maybe 2 people camping. Also, I like biscuits and gravy for breakfast so I wanted an oven. I'm getting older and the dredgeing experience is starting to take a back seat to "great camping experiences".

Look at amazon.com as it a lot cheaper. If you know me, you'd know I wouldn't pay that.

I'll try out the oven in the next week or so. The burners won't be as good as the regular stove we use as the old one's are 30,000 btu and the new ones are 5,000 btu but in the trailer, they ought to be ok. They also have a 2 burner griddle option that I may get as I love the griddle on the big stove.

Hi GO:

Lodge cookware makes a nice cast iron griddle that I think will fit on top of the burners. I know that cast iron is heavier, but it spreads the heat better and lasts for ever. Measure your top and check out ebay.

By the way, your making me hungry!

Thanks for the info but Ed has a castiron griddle for his camp chef stove and I have a steel one. I'd take mine any day, sorry Ed! His doesn't have a grease drain off and mine does. It makes a huge difference in cooking. Also, if you have a good spatula, the steel griddle is easier to keep ready to cook. If you can join us on an outting, you'll get to see both. We had 3 camp chef stoves at Douglas Creek last year. I'll bring mine and also the new oven.

Camp Chef has a 2 burner steel one for this stove and I may end up buying it.

Come on by and we'll do some cooking. I have the trailer so that would be your home. I'm not a great cook but I have a few things that are ok. If you want,to hit me up in arizona, I plan on being there the firs few weeks of april.

nice setup Leonard! ive had more than 1 cup of coffee from that coffee pot! i wonder how this 5000 BTU will work at higheraltitudes??? i know my old bar-b-q pit didnt cook very well at DC a few years back so thats why i got the bigger grill like yours and Eds.it should do fine for coffee without any problems.

I'm sitting here drinking a cup of coffee perked on the new stove now. It's not as fast as the big stove and doesn't sound like a F-104 taking off on full afterburner but I was looking for something easier to haul around for 1 or 2 people in the trailer. I think it will work great for what it's intended. At Douglas Creek we'll have the Chateau Argo for an oven and I won't bring it. I'll bring the big stove.

The other day I was at a bar and had some hot green chilli. It was so hot I couldn't eat it all. Since then though, I "manned" up and back and had it twice more.
