Dredge Nozzle insight

I've got a little Honda 1" pump that I want to use with a 2" suction nozzle.



My question is, What suction nozzle is better?

Is a 2" worth the effort?

Some manufacturers seem to bend their pipe like with an exhaust pipe bender, which creates a reduced diameter at the bend where it is stretched around the radius insert which, I would assume, create a choke point.

So now I want to try a curved suction nozzle like Honcoop, Keen, AKMining, etc. - But I don't know which performs best.




I tried a venturi nozzle a while back but couldn't get it to suck. Well they did "suck", just not material up the hose.
And,Yes, They were choked down to increase pressure.

what did you reduce the line by? i think they normally go down to 3/8 for a two inch.plus if you were pumping uphill anyamount, youd have to run the snot out of that engine.

With a suction nozzle and that type of pump you will do better then the power jet. I have a small pump like that that I don't think would power a 2" it just isn't quite enough umph. I used a 3.5 hp Briggs for the 2" and if there was too much elevation or too deep it wouldn't cut it. Only use for the little pump was for a small banker.

You're asking a lot of that little trash pump but it should do it.
Your PJ should start working if you put it underwater while under power. Once water gets moving in it they work better.
The Nozzle Jet is your better choice especially if you will use it as a power sluice. The restriction at the radius will be less that the restriction at the tip so I would worry about other problems.
No mater what this little pump will not lift very high so keep your work at or below waterline

I ended up ordering a Jobe nozzle.



I was advised to weld a ring on the end or it'll get bent up pretty fast.

I used a 2 ½ in dredge for a few years and did nothing to the end of the nozzle. just sucked rocks and worked bedrock. if it starts to wear then you can worry about reworking it. that nozzle will serve you well just as it is.

oh man you really need a centrifugal pump. more head more pressure more gold. those bulg pumps dont cut it for me.been there done that.

Bottom line is that I use what I use cuz it's what I can afford to use.

It's the reason most of my gear is hand made or modified.
