Do you need any kind of permit, all I have is a little 2.5" dredge/highbanker combo. What about camping?

We camped on a gravel bar right near where we were dredging. Nobody said a word to us. Great swimming hole and fishing right in front of the camp too.
No permit needed, just a copy of my lease and written permission to be prospecting.
