That gives a whole new meaning to drill baby drill.
Wonder how many other fools have been buying tungsten,
Better to get your gold from mother nature me thinks, she makes you work hard for it but doesn't cheat you.

 All that glitters....is not gold. Good old specific gravity test, microderm or many other tests would have proven fake, just like the last batch of chinese fakes. What a devastating bummer-John :?

You could easily do it with a with a milling machine like Sherline 400, they go for about $675.00,

yes you could but to get them out and back in to the system after they have been tested and marked that takes some skill and in side knowledge.

The way it looked to me, they hollowed out the back, filled it with tungsten and put a layer of gold over the back, then stuck them back in to the plastic case they came in. The marks on the bar were the original one and no damaged in the process, putting it back in to the plastic makes it hard to check the weight, because of the very slight difference "Gold allegedly has a specific gravity of 19.32 and tungsten of 19.25." .07 is very small amount and very hard to check for the individual.
If you buy from someone other then a mint or one of the gold dealers, like a individual or a local gold reseller there could be a good chance that you get a gold bar that has been tampered with.

Microderm manufactures a beta ray backscatter testing uniy that will tell karat and thickness with absolutely no destruction in less than 1 minute. Checked still in biz and used units readily available. I never buy gold so don't affect me but good info for those that do as buying phoney bars would definately have a tendency to screw up someones retirement. :? John
