Hi,New Menber here

Postby ManVsGold » Sun Apr 22, 2012 11:30 pm

Hi all!!I just signed up and am exited to learn all the great info this forum provides. My name is Ryan and I live in Portland Oregon.Up until now I have only panned rivers.Never owned a sluice box or a dredge or any fancy gadgets.Just a shovel and a pan. The area I live in is known for gold, but in a bad way.Its known to not have any.

So I got tired of panning gold that other people couldn't seem to see in my pan and I said "hell with it all, its time to dive in." Gold fever can only be contained for so long, as Im sure your all well aware. So, I decided to get together a small crew of "non-tied down" guys and head straight for Alaska. Why Alaska? Because of the show Gold Rush Alaska? Nope, because one of the crew members has a cabin in Willow, AK. So we have keys and can stay any length of time we want. Anyway, we studied hard and felt North of Fairbanks was just to far this year and you cant drive to Nome, so that makes it tough. So we set our wondrous eyes on the Kenai Peninsula, just south of Anchorage. Its a gold bearing area with ton of rivers. So next i decided to build our green horn butts a highbanker/dredge.Not such a good idea for a noob to take on a project like that. That can be seen here.

Anyway my design didn't work so good so I gave up and bought a Keene 3" ultra mini which is on its way here now.I bought and old Whites gold master 2 can be seen here http://youtu.be/UqxqYcU7QZU

We are gonna film the whole adventure in HD and upload it all for you to see. We have a very small budget of 5k and we would like to show(for all who've thought of going)what it takes for someone to just head to Alaska and spend 4 months in the woods in a tent, mining.

The film preview is here http://youtu.be/bjl6JIsYeIU if you would like to take a peek.

Please subscribe to our youtube channel if you are interesting in watching a failures and successes and seeing "I hope" some beautiful gold. We have no experience other that with a pan so I should be great! The channel is here http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCJ_3LhCcsI0je6KNF07Bug

We have permits to mine the Resurection Creek/6 mile drainages and a permit to mine the Pertersville Public Mining area in Pertersville. We have no claim so all the film will be shot in Public access areas that you yourself could go mine at.

If anyone knows ANY info about where we are going or has ANY tips we are all ears.Thank you all for your support!!! Im an exited to have joined this forum since Leonard is such a great guy  :)

Ryan and George are members using the new system where I do all of the entry into the system so I don't leave the site open for spammers to register. The system seems to be working good. If I wasn't "chicken" about upgrading the forum software, the new version allows the administrator to enter new members directly. Now I have to open registration up, enter fast, and close it.

Be sure and check out Ryan's video.

He' a bunch of steps above my production quality. I love seeing people post video. I remember the time years ago that mine was almost the only video out there.

Thanks guys for the comments :) It must have been kinda nice to have the only gold videos around for a while. I bet you got a lot of views since your videos are so good. I watched all your videos and was wondering if you have any more? Do you plan on going back to Alaska anytime? I'd love to pick your brain for all the good gold hunting info you got in there! :D

I don't remember what link I sent you but just about all of my videos are listed at http://golddredgervideo.com/

I probably won't be back to alaska for another year or so.

Ya, as I began joining all these great mining forums,I quickly realized my design was flawed from the start with that "L" shape. Thats what happens when a noob goes blindly at something. Hey, at least I got miners moss and expanded metal in it.Did 1 thing at least somewhat right.I still have to say, these leg adapters are truly great for a fully adjustable stand. It adjusts to even the worst of unleveled surfaces and it weights almost nothing. As well the units legs fit inside themselves so,it beaks down into only a few pipes to carry. I may be able to incorporate this stand into something of use someday. :o  :o

I've been getting a lot of questions about what program I used to design this with and that program is called Maya by Autodesk.

Thanks for th FYI.

I looked on the screen shots to see if I could see a Software brand, but didn't find it. I thought you were using Pro Engineer.

Good luck with the build. :D
