Been a long time since I saw this dredge in action. Last time was in Oregon. As I recall, it has a couple of smaller riffles near the flare followed by a dozen or so 1" hungarians. The micro-fine TX gold that Trevor is attempting to catch with this rig requires too much settling time to get caught effectively with this setup. And the taller riffles just loft the tiny stuff back up into the flow. The only adjustment that makes sense is to change it over to Hoser's farorite over/under setup. Screen the big stuff topside. Tiny riffles and expanded down below. I used to run it that way with Nomad on the bottom. But am leaning now days toward the conveyor belting that is used on the cube

Whaddaya think Hoser? Try for an over/under setup? Or scrap the box and start all over?

yep that vortex belting is good but expensive. Hoser showed me some Veranda carpet by Shaw. it works real well and is fairly inexpensive. i run it in my 4 inch O/U dredge on the Arkansa River at Leonards claim and i really like it!

8-) I'm with both ya guys on the above as with good bones near anything is fixable. M you have the Tejas experience with sizing down there and mix consistancy. I know it's kinda a step backward tech wish but can't help but think that a powerjet is not the cool tool as the remix directly at the box ain't really condusive to good recovery. If ya can find it el cheapo I'd throw on a suction nozzle so the complete hose will allow the fines to settle to the bottom of the mix during it's 15' or so travel to the box and with the flair it'll plop down she goes into the over/under and absolutely protected. I'll take them tiny specks by the millions and thank you very much as pays for gas, food and almost beer too :? Don't know your Tejas weather/seasons but fall is finally here-BUT ABSOLUTELY NO RAIN-so I'd get it on asap-tons a au 2 u 2 -John :D

Bet it is a vintage Keene Six, Model 6116V with an 18 HP Vanguard...was one reliable gold getter.

I had one back in the late 1980s- early 90s and it was a great dredge. We called it our "Six-Shooter" Used it on the NF Yuba and Klamath it brought us a lot of gold.

The ol' 18hp vanguard rig also had the MONSTER high dome impeller setup and produced more psi/gpm than all the others also. Can't remember what my last date looked like but a dredge pump from 25 years ago certainly hahaha-sic ol'man-John

If you want the real scoop straight from the horses mouth talk to Tom. He was the original owner of the dredge. You can find him at http://activerain.com/tomashworth

This may be a odd question but is this a private claim or property, or open area as in state. I go through there some times and would like to know.

I leased the hard mineral rights from the state of Texas. You're more than welcome to prospect there, you just need written permission from me to be legal.

OK thanks for the offer.
It will be awhile before I head back that way.

You can use up to a 5" dredge in TX without a P.O.O. No horsepower limitations either.
