goldfathers on nat geo

Postby mark pa » Fri May 04, 2012 1:48 pm

Another Alaskan gold show I know one of the miners Doug Baker he has a huge working 20 miles from my place he is the real deal as is his daughter who runs an adjacent mine. When I was there last he has 2 pits both 90 ft to bedrock about 1/2 mile apart and had intentions of connecting them via underground.

5/4 10 pm EST on nat Geo I know they are the green machine but this may have merit not a drama queen like the Hoffmans

He was trucking in 8000 gal of diesel every 2 weeks feeding 2 D-10's and a D 11 I saw a clean up of 440 oz he runs 2 , thats, 2, 200 yd per hour trommels

Leonard he bought Tobe's trommel and jigs along with over 2 miles of 10inch plastic pipe at the dope auction reason he bought the trommel he built it 10 years ago

Should be interesting besides anyone who calls his business "MUDSLINGERS" deserves a look

I enjoyed it for the most part. They could turn down the drama about a dozen notches.

Things I wondered about:

Why sample with the rocker box? Why not a highbanker? It gave the kids something to do for the day though. They didn't appear to be very experienced panners. They were working with almost pure black sand though.
I noticed the "no grease" on the washplant axle as soon as they pulled the wheel. Not only no grease, all rusted up.

I'm looking forward to more episodes. A huge difference from the Hoffmans.

I'm with you Leonard, looks like they know what they are doing. Will be interesting to watch their equipment run. I'm sure the rocker was for the camera to fill time for the first show. It takes a while to move on site and set everything up and it never works the first time. I'd bet the farm that they are not hurting for cash though! Most of the time I'm looking at operations and not even bothering to listen to the sound track. As far as the women on the show, it's just eye candy. Put one of them on a hoe and I'll tell you in 1 min,..... if they are miners. :)
