Did they not give you until next year to file your Notice/Plan? When I talked to (Oh, I can't remember her name, the geologist for the Royal Gorge BLM office), she said we can complete this year under the old terms. (We did get our $25 back from High Hopes, that's what triggered me to call).

I have the family up in BV now in fact. The river is so low, I think we're going to dredge (I brought my stuff!)

John had been handling the paperwork as he has several claims. I didn't know that we were good this year. I'll check it out.

I've been working with Amy at Canon City BLM. She said we would need to convert to the new system this year. When all was said and done, I had to be extremely detailed on where and when we would be dredging (maps with dots). They wanted to know how many people would work the claim, and what steps we would use for reclamation of our working areas. They have not responded, so I have no idea what kind of reclamation bond they are going to throw on us. I proposed $75 for the three of us (Leonard, Ed, and I). Something tells me they are laughing at my proposal. :|

John, I saw your other post regarding Stephanie at the BLM. She is the one reviewing all of our paperwork. It was Amy that did all the back-and-forth with me until the paperwork was sufficient for them.

well happy 4th of July! Lee and i drove all night to get home. we got to my home about 3:00AM today and unloaded Lees stuff.i have to get out there and unload whatever i got to and the heck with everything else. its been over 100 for the past week. going to DC this year, the temps in Kansas were over 100/110 and it took out 5 of my trailer tires.Monday July 2 we just got back to camp from dredgeing and "they" showed up informing us we are being told of the "mandatory evacuation " and we needed to be out that day.smoke was everywhere.it kicked Lee and my but to get this all done and be gone.we meet up with Reed in Larami and spent the night at a hotel cause Lee and i were to whiped to do anything else.and after loading/pileing the trailer, there was no way i was going to unload that trailer to sleep in that night!good choice on our part.we drove 16 hours to get home and itll be over 100 this week also. my food is probly spoiled by now but i still need to get into the trailer and get it out.atleast Lee and i got to dredge for 2 days, and we opened up a nice little hole that leonard my possibly want to continue in.Lee and i are going to work our cons sometime after the temps go down to reasonable.im going back to bed!

Russ,

Sorry to hear your plans for a super good time has come to an end. The good news is you made it home safe. Just talked with Scott about the claim he has. He's going to send me an email with directions to it. I just might decide to go on up. Just have to figure out how to pack the Jeep if I take my highbanker, and assorted crap that goes with it.

Scott,

I feel stupid after reading your posts where you listed your phone number :o I would have called you rather than you calling me.

Pat,
Sorry I missed your call, i sent you a e-mail, that is the correct turn-off. Hope everything works out, and you can make it.

Russau,
Glad you made home all right, wish it had been a better trip for you, but at least you got to do a little dredging. Wish you could have made it to my claim, I would have liked to put a face to the name, but I understand how things work out. If ever out this way again, hopefully we can meet up.

Looking forward to seeing everyone that was able to make it on such short notice, my cars all packed and ready to go.

see ya all soon,
Scott

It strikes me that the BLM needs to be educated on thier own regs. Since when do you need a POO or NOI for dredging? There is no "significant surface disturbance" while dredging in the active water way. And a 4in suction dredge cannot in any way be considered a piece of "heavy equipment". Those people are getting mighty uppity and that is getting really old. And who is driving all this crap to, basically, remove us from the water?

I do believe it's called CALIFORNIA. It's a sickness and it's spreading. With help from our great government!

Bummer Russau :? I know how much these trips mean to ya as a true addict to the CCC. Glad to hear your home albeit tireless-WOW. One year I blew 3 tires in 118 degree heat coming home from Yosemite but 5 is hella bad bud!! Hope all goes better for ya this summer and stay cool-John PS-and yes RB must agree as the anti mining cancer from the klamath spreads it's insideous tentacles yet ever farther to contaminate the body of mining law
