I you determine that you do need MSHA training - be sure to get the "Right One" for the kind of mining you do.

There are two "flavors" of MSHA training, with both having the second training day of identical First Aid Training.

One "Flavor" is underground mining. HEAVILY centered on coal mining – which is where MSHA came from.

The other "Flavor" is above ground mining.

Both "Flavors" require a follow-up site specific additional training (8 hours) at the location where you work.

EVERYONE employed in some way at the mine site is required to go through this ‘Gosh Darned’, Federally mandated (and for those possessed of normal intelligence, mind numbing) regimen each and every ‘darn’ year. At the end of this training you get to carry your very own cardboard card certifying that you completed the training. Don’t expect to, in any way, have learned anything - especially if you possessed common sense to start with.

Joe i understood that MSHA training was kinda elusive to get. you had tobe mining to get the training but you had to get the training to get the job. but i guess for TV Shows anything is possible! im just waiting for it tobe "required" for everyone!

Never ever mess with OSHIT, MSHIT is probably the same way.

Neat pictures! You did good! I always like seeing big comercial equipment at work.

I missed making it over your way on my way home but I was racing the weather and having a lot of sciatica nerve pain. I was pain pilling it every 4 hours just to semi-function. Maybe this year.

Amen on that. Been on a rip since watching GRA Friday night and seeing the donut guzzling MSHA inspector. These Nanny State SOB's need to be out of our government and out of our lives. These same people in different agencies have kicked kids off family farms here in the midwest a kid can't work around equipment unless he's 18 in many cases. This is a no holds barred battle. It has been going on for 20-30 years and needs to end. It ain't just small miners getting hosed, it is every small farmer, or construction firm dealing with the likes of OSHA, MSHA, EPA, USFWS, and any of the other fricking alphabet soup agencies that are under control of an out of control administration.

It is high time we the people take back this country so there is something left for our kids and grand kids. We've been bow shot too many times and ducked. I messaged with Fred about it on Facebook, he is still fuming about the events of the summer.

The fact is under the Obama administration and it's union infiltrators have done serious damage to a lot of small businesses. The intent is to deliberately create a union welfare state. It isn't just about a friggin' reality TV show, it is about reality. This crap is all to common. Which is why associations are formed, and PAC's grow. There are several ecowhack PAC's, but no pro-mining PAC's save the a few disparate groups with differing ideas which generally represent large mining interests. I sense the PLP has adopted the NW as it's battle ground, (no offense, they have a fight on their hands there..)
when the actual battle is in DC.

Grivy is working for a company in New Mexico that builds roads for wind generator sites. I believe he is currently near Mountain View New Mexico.

I have to say this about that mining inspection and MSHA, "I know but I just saw that show on Fri.
When I saw that so called inspector, that is bigger around then he's tall it looked to me that the only hazard on the mining site was that humongous mountain of flesh doing the inspection.
It would be hard taking any kind off criticism from that. The guy is a heart attack waiting to happen, and I wouldn't want that responsibility on my mining site
But that's just me
