P90 Pump Clog Question

Hi,
I accidentally clogged the P90 on my old man dredge with weeds and gravel... error on my part.
I don't think I did any internal damage since I shut her down relatively quickly.
What is the best way for me to clear this? Can I do it without taking it apart?

You might try reverse flushing it with a garden hose. I think that might do it. On my 4" it isn't really a big deal to open it up but I'm not sure on the smaller ones. I just picked up an "old man" dredge yesterday. It's a Keene 2" with a 35cc 2 stroke motor and pump and inflateable floats. I can carry it in one piece but if you seperate the motor and floats from the sluice box I could carry it for miles.

Thanks Leonard, that's a great idea on the reverse flush.. I'm going to try that first.
If that doesn't do the trick I'm not afraid to remove the outer case. Looks like 4 allen bolts and a cork gasket.

I have no idea how to fix such a amateur mistake
But if I had to guess I would suggest just taking off the volute if the back flush doesn't work, only 4 bolts...10 minutes tops

i agree with Dan! ive had mine apart many times on both dredges! not a problem!

Always use a coat hanger wire or stiff wire to clean out the pickup veins clean. Check impeller for wear and fine sand or remove any metal protruding off the vein pickups. Go to oSH/Capitol rubber and get some rubber material with nylon impregnated in it and make a new pump gasket too,much better than mfgr. When putting back together make sure to seal with GE silicone and check the impeller fits right up against the black platistic hose bib to prevent blowby and increase your output too-John

That's a pretty good argument for using a suction screen.
