No Tim, that is Maine gold but we have found nuggets like the smaller ones in the picture in VT. ( 1/4" )
The biggest problem here in the north-east is there are almost as many eco-terrorists as in Kalifornia so we just end up going "off the grid" so to speak. Paper companies own most of the northern woods and MOST keep their lands open for 'recreational use'. Plum-Creek [ formally S.A.P.P.I. ] is the only exception... they don't like prospectors on their land.
We have never been bothered any where we end up mining, most have no idea what we are doing!

Lots of times we drop off our equipment in one spot and park a half mile away out on the old logging roads.
