Thought I posted this, I guess my memory is really slipping along with everything else  .

Recreational Miner:

The instructions and application for a stream channel alteration LETTER PERMIT for the April 2011 through March 2012 recreational mining season are now posted on the department’s web site.

If you plan to work in the Clearwater River drainage, the Salmon River drainage, or the Mores Creek drainage of the Boise River drainage this year, you must include specific information on where you plan to work on “Page 2” of your permit.

There wouldn't be a 1st Amendment without a 2nd Amendment.

Just looking at the first one, I didn't make it through all 28 pages, I'm glad I'm not a "Recreational Miner"

Thanks for posting. I am interested in reading it just for curiosity and the information.
It might make me feel better as to what Cal is doing to me. Probably not and yes, GO, I am not a "Recreational Miner" either. Need not apply?

Two words that you NEVER want to use together, especially if talking to someone carrying a badge.

Just try and tell the IRS when you go to sell the gold that you found, that your doing it as recreation and don't need to pay taxes on it. :?

Your either exploring to try and find ground to claim or working a claim.

As far as the Mining law goes, your either a miner or not, and the law is to regulate miners. The word hobby, recreation, casual, small, etc are not in there, so if you want the protection of the law, you need to make sure that you are covered by it.

After all, who would discover a nice source of precious metal and/or gems and not try and file a claim for it?

Just my opinion, so take it or leave it.
