This place is out in the middle of nowwhere and only accessible by trail. it "MMMAAAAAAAAY" be polluted. :o Sheesh:

Then the story winds down and the truth reveals itself, they want to cap it to keep detectorists and junk collectors out .So they want to cap it for the archeologists to "someday' have a looksee....sooo much bs-John

Dammit! Another place I need to hike into and check out before it's gone... The list keeps growing. Monte Cristo has some mines on the cleanup list and so does Harts Pass area. Locally up at mid fork Snoqualmie they cleaned up the quarts creek mine area in a similar way.

I was there once in the Scouts on a 50 mile hike for the evenning. don't remember much other than there were a bunch of caved mines and we got one of them open. I remember it being pretty neat. from the sat photo below, looks like some kind of cabin or something:
