Randy's 25th Buchanan, GA Trip -- 20 Feb 12

Greetings Gold Dredgers...

Typing this left handed with one finger. Had right shoulder surgery yesterday, so working kinda slow and staying busy to help me ignore the pain. Morphine is a wonderful drug! Why didn't i discover it sooner???

This will be uncharacteristically short and will try to let the pics & 3 videos tell the story as best they can. Since I was getting surgery that will lay me up for several months from hard work, and I had Monday off, I decided late Sunday nite to load up and go sluicing...

Sat & Sun were washout days........as it rained most of both days. Monday was clearing, cool and I was afraid Beech Creek would be up too hig, too muddy, but luckily it was very workable. 38 degrees coming thru Buchanan.

I set up downstream, but after a while couldn't get the water flow I wanted, so I moved up by the campground.

I found a hole someone else had dug about 2 feet deep into the gravel bar on the inside bend. One sample pan showed some small colors, so I worked this spot for a number of hours doing a lot of cleanups.

The water was surprisingly clear and very cold. The day was clear and warmed up nicely by early afternoon. I did several sample pans to check for color as I cleaned up my Wolf Trap sluice, as I was getting a LOT of black sand. Very good color and even one bigger flake. Nice! :P

By early afternoon I was pooped out, and time to get heading home, clean up the Jeep and dry my cons in the drive way. So, despite the long drive up/back for one days sluicing, I had a great time and got some surprisingly good GA color.

Now, to get my shoulder back to 100%...... :?

Here's the first of 3 short videos I posted on YouTube:

Hope you get out soon and have your own "Gold Adventure", even if it's only for a few hours on the creek!

God bless,

Russ,

Ha! Yep, morphine is great stuff.......... ;) The nurses only let me have it for 2 days, and then reclaimed the "pain pump', pulled my IV and dumped all the rest down the drain........that sure made the bacteria in my septic system happy, I am sure....

On the mend, slowly.

Still left handed & 1 fingered on the keyboard. Try going even 24 hrs with you good arm tied behind your back and you'll have a BIG appreciation for two arms, two hands, 10 fingers and balance and opposible thumbs too!

Can't wait to bet well.........back to prospecting...........at least a few months away.

Randy,

Years ago I shortened the three middle fingers on my right hand.

Not anticipated, but thoroughly efficient using a very sharp wood joiner.

A couple of years later I was reviewing my AF 623 and saw some of the left handed signatures I had made. THE first thought that came to my mind was "Who tried to forge my signatures here?"!

Keep up the fight, get well and get back to finding Gold!
