Golden Optimist Gold

( I recently returned form a 2 week dredging trip in California. After averaging 3 pennyweight a day and having a 1/4 ounce day, these are kind of pitiful looking.  7/26/98)

This may not look like much to you. (if you aren't impressed, please call me next time you are going out. I'd like to go along) These two pictures are of a 1 hour run with my 2 1/2" dredge on my claim. This is the best I have ever done. ( Thats why I call myself a recreational prospector) I'm glad I don't do this for a living. I wouldn't live very long. I have found larger pieces but these two pictures represent the best cleanup at one time.

May not look like much but I'd be overjoyed if I had all my pans like this. I've had a lot that had so little a beginner wouldn't even see it. What I like are the pans with pieces that you can see from 10-15 feet away. I don't get many of those though.

Not a whole lot, but I'm easy to please

This is the result of 1 pan after doing a little Crack'n. I had never done this before and I was on the claim waiting for a friend and I took the pan and was digging over a smal piece of bedrock. After I exposed it, I noticed that a section was loose and after I pried it up, took the underlying gravel and panned it out. Boy, was I surprised.
